New 26 x half hour animated comedy series Wild Grinders, based on American pro-skateboarder/icon and MTV reality TV star Rob Dyrdek’s real-life experiences, premiered on Nicktoons US Friday, April 27 in the 7 p.m. time slot. A Ratings Victory for the show the time slot, and the channel, and the encore presentations later that day and night and the subsequent days, got even better – Amaaazing!
The series, which follows the adventures of a group of skateboarding friends, is produced in partnership with Dyrdek’s Four Down Productions and LA-based animation studio Home Plate Entertainment.
Agogo Corporation, Moonscoop, Telegael and Copernicus Studios are also on board as co-producers of the series which will air regularly on Nicktoons in the Friday, 7 p.m. EST timeslot.
Dyrdek (from MTV’s Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness) lends his voice to lead character Lil Rob and the action-oriented series also features Lil Rob’s talking dog Meaty, his best friend Goggles, and the rest of their school’s skate crew.
Moonscoop will distribute the series internationally and has plans to build a licensing program aimed at older boys around the property. Prior to the full-fledged series, Moonscoop signed a deal with Mattel which rolled out a limited release toy line in fall 2011 to US mass-market retailers based on the original concept for the series.
